Tune in – Tune up 2022

A celebration of gender justice in jazz.
As a presenter of three annual festivals and a jazz education program, JazzYYC is aware of the gender imbalance in jazz and our role and responsibility as a gatekeeper in leveling the playing field. Through presentations, panel discussions, film, workshops and performance, Tune In – Tune will create a forum for musicians, scholars, community leaders, and audiences that will:
- Provide a safe space where the issues of gender inequality in jazz and strategies for achieving gender equality can be discussed
- Raise awareness of issues and solutions in the minds of educators, presenters, sponsors, performers, audiences and jazz stakeholders of all genders
- Provide representation and recognition of women and/or non-binary artists in jazz and provide role models for youth, aspiring artists and industry professionals
- Provide career development opportunities for emerging artists through workshops and masterclasses
Tune In – Tune Up brings together an extraordinary group of artists and community leaders. We invite you to participate in discussions of what it means to be a woman within the jazz music industry and in our community. Join us for a unique lineup of presentations from an incredible group of presenters, moderators, and panelists, and be a part of developing not just our future, but the future of jazz music.
