What:

Tune In – Tune Up 2022 is a space for the celebration, amplification and reimagining of gender in jazz where everyone’s voice can be heard. 

Who:

JazzYYC is hosting the inaugural Tune In – Tune Up conference as an adjunct program to the 2022 Canadian Jazz Festival. This year’s conference explores gender issues in jazz.

When:

November 11-13, 2022

Where:

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

The Call for Presenters:   

JazzYYC is accepting applications for presentations and/or masterclasses on a topic of your choice. 

Presentations:

We have some categories you can choose from, or you can propose something of your own that is related to gender and diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Proposals can be for an individual presentation or a panel discussion.

Masterclasses:

Some topics are suggested, but you may propose a session on any performance topic.

All sessions will be 60 to 90 minutes in length, including Q&A.

Education

  • How to bring improv into the classroom
  • Pedagogy for trans voices

Data on Equity

  • Trends in education and performance within the arts
  • Understanding where we’ve come from – learn of and from historical figures and trends.

Masterclasses:

  • Skills acquisition
  • Artrepreneurship – business, marketing and other skills for a successful career in the arts

Student Program:

Tune In – Tune Up will feature a student performance program. Rehearsals will be held on the first day of the conference followed by a public performance and guided conversation.
