Band leaders Israeli-born alto saxophonist Tevet Sela and Canadian jazz pianist John Roney have joined forces to share a musical vision. Through the original compositions of their debut release, The River, this masterful duo explore the blending of musical cultures from the Middle East, Europe, and North America resulting in a sound that is truly unique. Klezmer ornamentations, North African rhythms, European classical textures, jazz improvisation and groove all flow together effortlessly as these exciting musicians navigate uncharted musical waters. John and Tevet’s fearless improvisations and open-minded musicality make every note honest and spontaneous, engaging the listener at every bend and turn.
