Josh Krushel Trio featuring Jeff McGregor

The Josh Krushel Trio is one of Alberta’s top young Jazz ensembles. Influences range from the preservation of American songbook era standards to modern jazz in the style of Kendrick Scott and Ulysses Owens Jr, to non-idiomatic improvisatory free music in the style of Ornette Coleman and Cecil Taylor.

Angela Wrigley Trio

Perpie

Nigeria-born, saxophonist & songwriter, Perpie released her debut EP in 2018. She has performed in London, Beijing and across Nigeria. She treats her audience to an unforgettable experience with her unique sound and warmth on stage. Her vocal and instrumental brilliance is remarkable as she takes her listeners on a soothing journey. Her music is greatly inspired and influenced by the richness of her African root and by the music of Michael Brecker, Kirk Whalum, Victor Wooten, Hillsong United.

The Jon McCaslin quartet

Jazz drummer Jon McCaslin presents his dynamic quartet featuring brand new original compositions, all penned over the course of the past year’s challenging Covid experience. No stranger to local audiences, McCaslin is excited to finally return to the stage and to once again share his musical vision with REAL musicians in front of LIVE audiences. Inspired by the great jazz drumming band leaders including Art Blakey, Max Roach, Elvin Jones and Roy Haynes, Jon is thankful for the opportunity to share his music with you all.

Tendavillage

Sultry vocals with an elegant backdrop of funky and jazzy grooves, Tendavillage seamlessly weave through a mixture of genres. The central creative force behind the group is singer/songwriter Kate Melvina – whose influences include Stevie Wonder, Prince, D’Angelo – who is backed by musicians who know their chops.

Sanah Kadoura Quintet

Electrifying Lebanese-Canadian drummer, Sanah Kadoura has performed and toured the world with masters of the music as well as up and comers. Living in New York City for the last 10 years, Sanah has produced, recorded or shared the stage with the legendary Kirk Lighstey (Dexter Gordon, Sonny Stitt, Chet Baker), Philip Harper (Art Blakey), Ed Cherry (Dizzy Gillespie) Mark Whitfield (Herbie Hancock), Joe Locke, Nicholas Payton, Frank Lacy (The Jazz Messangers), Mike Stern, Joel Frahm, Roy Hargrove, Sullivan Fortner, among many others. Her recent album Hawk Eyes is now available on all platforms.

Funds raised by this raffle will support our many outreach and education initiatives including one of the key programs, the JazzYYC Youth Lab Band which showcases many of the best young jazz musicians in Calgary.
The sale ends on Aug. 22. The winner will receive a minimum cash prize of $2000 or 50% of ticket sales (whichever is greater) up to a maximum of $5000.
