Mark DeJong (Sax/Big Band)

A dynamic and versatile musician with over 20 years experience, Mark is equally at home in jazz, blues, pop, folk, and gospel settings. He has performed with many of the worlds’ leading musicians from all genres and styles. Career highlights have included sharing the stage with such international icons as Ray Charles, Ian Tyson, Wayne Newton, and Lennie Pickett, Canadian music legends Rob McConnell, Moe Koffman, Tommy Banks, Victor Sawa, Hugh Fraser, P.J. Perry, as well as renowned vocalists Nikki Yanofsky, Denzal Sinclaire, and Carol Welsman. With a career that spans over 20 years, his performance credits include the Ottawa, Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, and Saskatoon International Jazz festivals, as well as numerous concert halls and jazz clubs across North America, Canada, the United States, Europe, and Japan.

His group, The Redline Trio came together three years ago and has honed its songs playing mainly at the speakeasy cocktail bar Betty Lou’s Library in Calgary – bringing drums, saxophone and bass together to create modern jazz tunes that roar with the influence of early blues music.

Amanda Tosoff (Piano)

Amanda Tosoff is a B.C-raised Toronto-based pianist and composer with five albums to her credit. On her most recent release Words, Amanda takes an adventurous leap beyond the confines of conventional jazz. She has taken poems and lyrics that possess a personal resonance for her and framed them in original compositions that utilize vocals for the first time (sung by highly-regarded singer Felicity Williams). The result is a collection of songs that are jazz at their core, but also contain elements from art-song and folk.  Since releasing Words, Amanda has garnered much critical acclaim, including a 2017 Juno Nomination for best Vocal Jazz Album and a mention on the 2016 Polaris Prize “Longer List”. She has also been awarded the Montréal Jazz Festival Grand Prix de Jazz, and the 2016 Toronto Arts Foundation Emerging Jazz Artist Award.

In 2020, Amanda will release a follow up to Words, entitled Earth Voices, which will feature special guest vocalist Emilie-Claire Barlow, Laila Biali, Michelle Willis, Lydia Persaud, Robin Dann, Alex Samaras, as well as guest instrumentalists Kelly Jefferson, Allison Au, and Alex Goodman, and more.  In this live-stream concert, Amanda will present an intimate solo piano performance of her pieces from Words (instrumental adaptations), as well as solo piano repertoire from her past albums, arrangements of pieces from her upcoming album and her favourite jazz standards.
