“The Thrill Ain’t Gone!”
Join Canadian blues guitar master Jack Semple in a rare show paying tribute to one of his all-time idols, blues great B.B. King! For this special festival performance, Jack will be beefing up his award-winning band with the Jack Semple Horns!
Jack Semple writes and performs “Modern Blues” without forgetting where he came from. He is an epic guitarist and a soulful singer. His music is like Stevie Ray Vaughn meets James Brown meets Robben Ford. He is a JUNO Award winner and Western Canadian Music Award winner.
Jack Semple has reached an international audience for his songwriting, recordings and performances as a vocalist and flamenco-technique, groove-loving guitarist. JUNO recipient, two-time winner of the Western Canadian Blues album of the year, twice nominated for Gemini Awards for film soundtracks, and GRAMMY ballot nominee in 2019 for Contemporary R&B Album of the Year for “Can’t Stop This Love”, and in 2018 for Contemporary Blues Album of the Year for “Live at Mount Baker R&B Fest.”
But what Jack enjoys most is jamming live! “I am very excited to be invited to play at the JazzYYC Canadian Festival! I am told that this audience loves the artist reach, and with this band I will definitely be ready to see how far we can go together!” – Jack Semple
Presented by JazzYYC & The Calgary Public Library with the support of Cornerstone Music & the Calgary International Blues Festival.
