Angela Wrigley (Vocals)

Angela Wrigley plays a combination of soulful originals, traditional jazz standards and rock covers with a twist. She explores the jazz tradition of re-inventing popular songs and creating new melodies over well-known styles and voicings. With her trio featuring Dave Lake on drums and Derek Stoll on bass, you’ll hear a unique variety of backgrounds and experiences with music that spans decades.

Angela is a passionate vocalist, born and raised in Calgary, who studied jazz at Mount Royal University. She’s been performing and writing her own music for over 10 years and has a deep love of jazz standard, soul music, and contemporary piano trios. She accompanies her vocals on piano and embraces singing over different time signatures and harmonies. She is currently in pre-production with Cellar Music for her first album.

Cory Weeds (Sax / Club)

A saxophonist with an expressive sound rooted in the Jazz tradition, a label owner tirelessly documenting unsung Jazz heroes, one of Canada’s most important Jazz impresarios, the hardest-working man in Jazz business – Cory Weeds is all of these things, and much more.

Weeds may be best known as the founder and owner of Cory Weeds’ Cellar Jazz Club in Vancouver, which he successfully ran for more than 14 years. Weeds built the Cellar to become one of North America’s best Jazz clubs, where masters such as George Coleman, Jeff Hamilton, Louis Hayes, David “Fathead” Newman, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and the finest Jazz musicians from Vancouver and across Canada performed before it closed in February 2014. These days Cory splits his time between his live performance and running one of Canada’s largest jazz record labels’ Cellar Live.
