Aimee-Jo Benoit (Vocals)

Aimee-Jo Benoit is an accomplished vocalist based out of Calgary, Alberta. Her voice rings with a rare purity and tone uncommon but cherished in the jazz community. Over the past decade, Benoit has become well-known as both a locally successful jazz vocalist as well as a talented and sought after back-up singer for various successful folk-pop endeavours including Woodpigeon, Aaron Booth, Spreepark, The Summerlad, and Hermitess. Besides performing live and in-studio, she has studied with renowned tenor Leon Leontaridis (Canadian Tenors, Destino). She is releasing her new album with Trio Velocity in June entitled “Borjoner” which will feature a collection of loosely arranged, somewhat improvised tunes closest to the heart of her musical journey. Her music embodies the sprouts of inspiration that come when the band plays together.

Richard Underhill (Sax)

Richard Underhill’s warm alto sound, great writing and arranging skills and in-from-the-outside soloing make him one of Canada’s most distinctive jazz performers. A founding member of the jazz fusion group, The Shuffle Demons, he has toured Europe and Canada to critical acclaim for over 30 years. Underhill won a 2003 Juno Award for his jazz solo debut Tales from the Blue Lounge and was nominated for the Prix du Jazz at the 2003 Montreal Jazz Festival. He followed up with the Juno nominated Moment in Time in 2005, Juno nominated Kensington Suitein 2007 and the CD/DVD Free Spirit in 2010.
